| We have 10 acres of vines with 4 acres of Shiraz and 2 acres of Semillon as the backbone, being the premium Hunter varieties. These are supplemented with 2 acres each of Verdelho and Sangiovese.
Racecourse Lane wines is a low volume boutique producer and all efforts go into the single objective to produce the best wine possible. This has included reducing quantity on the vines by thinning at initial fruit set and then selectively picking from the available fruit. In the winery, the winemaker is also on the same brief. All necessary steps are taken to ensure the best is not compromised for the sake of volume during the whole process.
While ample water is available for the vines this is restricted as much as practical. The objective is again for the quality of the fruit rather than quantity.
All pruning and picking is done by hand with Mike keeping a close watch. Our consultant Viticulturist is Brian Hubbard, a well known and respected professional in the area. |
